Six Degrees and BikeABQ

For those of you who read this blog, you know about my sister's accident this past weekend. The good news is that she is getting stronger every day - baby steps, but stronger. The thing is - not many of you know my sister or what she is like.

Kym is a very strong willed individual and very much her own person. She is a vegetarian, politically minded, loves the outdoors and being active. It was not a surprise to me when asked what she wanted to occupy her mind or decorate her hospital room she said "Nothing." Instead, she wants money to go to driver education in the Albuquerque area through an organization called BikeABQ. Thus, the birth of the Kym Samuels Bike Safety Fund.

As of today, the birthday of the fund, the main goal of the fund is to promote bike safety for both cyclists and drivers in the Albuquerque area. I am not exactly sure how this will eventually develop - maybe seminars for cyclists, maybe adding to the driver's ed curriculum in the Albuquerque area - but however it does grow one thing is for sure, Kym will have turned this really bad thing that happened to her into something good.

So, now we come to where you can help. Over on the right hand side of this page is a Six Degrees Badge. Six Degrees is a new organization started by Kevin Bacon (of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game) in an effort to help raise money for different charities using the theory that we are each connected to each other by no more than 6 other people. Its a pretty cool idea and hopefully it will help raise money for the Kym Samuels Bike Safety Fund. Take a like, click on the badge, DONATE and feel free to send the badge to everyone you know.

Thank you for helping make the Albuquerque roads safer for everyone.
